Recruitment Agency in Los Angeles for Consumer, Media and Technology Hiring

Los Angeles is a consumer market first, and the strongest candidates for a Head of Growth or a founding engineer role are almost always employed and not looking. We work as a remote-first recruitment agency for Los Angeles companies: no local storefront, a calibration call to define the role precisely, then a shortlist sourced from the city's market and from six international regions.

What a Los Angeles search looks like

A search starts with a calibration call. We ask what the business actually needs from the hire, not just the job title: how the role sits inside the wider operation, what "good" looks like at six months, where past attempts to fill it stalled. Done means we can describe the ideal candidate in specific, falsifiable terms rather than a list of buzzwords.

From there we build a talent map: a working view of where people who fit that profile actually sit, inside Los Angeles and beyond it. For a Head of Ecommerce or a Performance Marketing Leadership hire, that map usually spans consumer and creator-led brands the reader has never heard of, because the candidate doing the job well right now is not posting about it.

Outreach follows the map, not a job board. We contact people directly, with a reason specific to their background, not a generic recruitment message. Most of the candidates who end up on a shortlist were not actively looking when we found them.

Partway through, the Hiring Scorecard works as a checkpoint. It scores role clarity, hiring readiness, talent market fit and recruitment capacity, and confirms whether the engagement in motion is still the right one before the shortlist is finalized, particularly if the scope of the role or the number of open seats has shifted since the calibration call.

The shortlist is the deliverable that matters: a small number of candidates, each qualified against the calibrated brief, with the reasoning for why they fit written out rather than assumed. Done means every name on it could plausibly get an offer.

Interviews, offer and close follow, either run by the client or, under a Full Search, managed by us end to end, including reference checks, offer construction and negotiation through signed acceptance. Close means the hire has accepted and is set to start, not just that a candidate said yes on a call.

How we work with Los Angeles companies without a storefront

We do not have a branch or a local team in Los Angeles, and this page will not pretend otherwise. We are based in California and run searches for founder-led and growth-stage companies wherever they are, working the Los Angeles market the way a local firm would: the same calibration, the same direct outreach, the same shortlist discipline.

What we add on top is reach a city-bound firm does not have. We search six regions, Western Europe, North America, Balkans, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Latin America, because the strongest candidate for a Los Angeles role is not always sitting in Los Angeles. For a Founding Engineer or an AI Engineer role in particular, opening the search past the local commute radius is often what turns a six-week stall into a filled seat.

The three engagement models

Every search runs under one of three structures. None of them are priced here; fees vary with role seniority, search complexity and hiring volume, and executive-level or unusually complex searches are quoted individually. Read the differences in Sourcing Sprint vs Full Search or the fuller breakdown of recruiter fees and engagement models.

The sectors we search for Los Angeles companies

We search under the same four sectors everywhere, described on the method page:

Growth & Ecommerce. Head of Growth, Head of Ecommerce, Head of TikTok Shop, Head of Brand and Organic, Performance Marketing Leadership, Creative Director, Affiliate and Creator Growth. See how we ran one of these searches in How We Run a Head of Ecommerce Search.

Product, Technology & AI. Founding Engineer, AI Engineer, Full-Stack Engineer, Head of Product, Technical Product and App Leadership.

Leadership & Executive Search. Chief Marketing Officer, Heads of Function, Operations Leadership, Customer Experience Leadership, Business Development Leadership.

Government Contracting. Cleared Talent, Technical and Professional Services, Program Support, Skilled Trades, relevant to Los Angeles aerospace and defense suppliers. Our government contracting division tracks contract awards to flag workforce needs before they become open reqs.

When a Los Angeles company does not need us

If the role is well-defined, mid-level, and you already have applicant flow, post it and run interviews yourselves. A search partner earns its fee when the mandate is unclear, the candidate pool is thin, or the person who can actually do the job is currently employed somewhere else and not applying to anything. A single clear opening with a healthy pipeline does not need a recruiter, it needs a hiring manager with time on the calendar.

The short version

  • We run Los Angeles searches remotely, with no local storefront, using the same calibration-to-close process everywhere.
  • Sourcing spans the Los Angeles market plus six international regions, because the right candidate is not always local.
  • Three models, Sourcing Sprint, Full Search, Embedded Partner, cover everything from a single shortlist to ongoing recruitment capacity, priced on request.
  • A well-defined mid-level role with existing applicant flow does not need a search partner. A Head of Growth, a founding engineer, or a cleared program manager usually does.
Tell us about the role. We'll come back with a calibrated shortlist, and pricing for the model that fits.

Questions companies ask

Do you have a Los Angeles office?

No. We are a remote-first search firm based in California, without a branch or storefront in the city. That does not cost you anything: the calibration process, the outreach, and the shortlist are the same whether the search is local or international, and it is what lets us also search six regions outside Los Angeles for the same role.

What does a Los Angeles recruitment agency actually charge?

We do not publish pricing on this page. Fees vary based on role seniority, search complexity and hiring volume, and executive-level or unusually complex searches are quoted individually. Structure, not price, is what distinguishes the three engagement models, laid out in the table above.

How is this different from a job recruitment agency that just sends resumes?

A staffing agency generally forwards resumes against a job description. We start with a calibration call to define what the role actually requires, then build a talent map and reach out directly to people who fit it, most of whom were not applying anywhere.

Is this the right fit if I need a tech recruiter in Los Angeles specifically?

Yes, if the role is a Founding Engineer, AI Engineer, or similar technical hire that is hard to source locally. We search the Los Angeles market and five other regions in parallel for exactly that reason.

What if I only have one role open right now?

That is common, and it usually points to either a Sourcing Sprint or a Full Search rather than an ongoing arrangement. The Hiring Scorecard takes about two minutes and will tell you which one fits your situation, and the difference between retained and contingency search is covered in more depth in Retained vs Contingency Search.

Do you only work with Los Angeles companies?

No. We run searches for companies across multiple cities, including London, New York, and Atlanta, using the same six-region sourcing approach in each.
